I don't understand much of what you say, but I think what you mean is that your Guild Wars isn't running on DX9? Well, try this:

Right click your Guild Wars Icon, and in the ''Target'' tab you'll see this: "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe", so what you do is add -dx8: "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -dx8 Just like that to the end of it, then it runs on DirectX8.

More Info: -dx8

Since the game update on March 23, 2006, the game engine uses DirectX 9 by default. This switch is provided for backward compatibility for users with older graphics cards that do not fully support DirectX 9. Using this switch will force the game to use the older DirectX 8 framework.

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -dx8 Source: http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Command_line

As far as a new graphics card goes, wait. Gw2 is just yet on the horizon, if you want a good card to play Gw2 then wait until it's out, or at least beta is out, because by then decent cards will be around and fully ready for the new games, though if you *Had* to have one now, I'd say an 8600GT (100$ USD, sorry don't know what that is in your currency) might be suitable, for cheap. But I'd wait.

check these cards out,

Budget and low end, 7300series, 7300GS, GT

Budget and mid range, 8600GT, abit better, 8600GTS & OC editions

Latest mid ranges, almost up to par wif 8800 high end on 1024*768 to 1280~
9600GT/GTS

Of cuz, high end, 8800GTs..

Above are GPU models, no brands. Brands go by Xfire, MSI, Gigabyte, and alot more. They carry diff specs like RAM etc.

GW2 has been said not to be resource hungry, DX9 wo uld run it. However, most cards, 8600 itself can run DX10. No worriers. IMO mid end shd be run o DX9..DX10 sort of kills them.

The ATI HD3870 just droped in price, is the top line ATI card, and looks to be a very good bang for the buck. Drivers are still a work in progress, but from the performance side, not stability, so performance should only get better.

They can be had for $180 or less now, and are readily available. Should be able to easily handle almost anything released over the next two years at reasonable graphic settings (1280x1024, with AA enabled and most of the settings near high)

This is the second comment on this situation now. They last guy had problem with EOTN screwing his fire effect. All block like. Did you install EOTN from the cd, or download it from the online store? Is this only happening with EOTN, or with your other campaigns as well since installing it?

If his video card only supports directx v.8, then for one his card is probably too old for the game anyways, which means that his PC is hypothetically too old to even use a remotely new card like a 7600+.

Just by assumption, jumping the gun a bit, I'd say you're better off buying a new PC when Guild Wars 2 comes out in a year or so.

But he asked for cards, so I gave him cards!
